Hesselbart, Velma Scholarship Fund

The endowed Velma Hesselbart Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 by Robert Mitten of Hesselbart & Mitten Advertising to honor the agency’s cofounder, the late Vee Hesselbart. Awards covering tuition, fees, and books are made annually to one junior, one senior, and one graduate woman majoring in marketing. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and need. A recipient may apply for annual renewal of the scholarship.

Selection of the recipients shall be determined no later than May 1 of each year by a committee consisting of representatives from the faculty of the Department of Marketing at The University of Akron and from Hesselbart & Mitten, Inc. Advertising. Eligible students shall be notified of the availability of the scholarships by February 1 of each year, with typed applications submitted for consideration by April 1 of each year.
